I am Belle! I'm an 8-year-old girl who came to the attention of the Fort Wayne GRRACE team when a co-worker of one of our volunteers expressed concern and sadness for my living conditions. I had lived my entire eight-years outside on a 5- foot chain, was about 15 pounds underweight, was heartworm positive, and had whipworm caused by having to walk and lie in my own waste. In addition to my numerous health problems, I had never been given the opportunity to socialize with my family and had been abused; as a result, I was afraid of everyone and everything. In the process of nursing me back to health physically and emotionally, my foster family realized that I was a very special girl who needed a special kind of love, and that I had a lot of love to give in return. They adopted me, and I now consider myself one of the best furniture testers ever. Instead of everything being new and scary, I now view life as an adventure! I've blossomed into a beautiful, affectionate Golden girl who, at age 8, has the demeanor and energy of a puppy after all those years of neglect and heartache. A true GRRACE success story!
