Dear Fellow Golden Lovers,
We would like to share with you an update about GRRACE. First, we would like
to thank all of our volunteers who put in countless hours every week to help
with the never ending job of rescuing and re-homing these wonderful Goldens.
We also would not be here without our foster homes that repeatedly bring
Goldens into their homes and care and nurture them so they become healthy,
adoptable, cherished family members and live out their lives in a manner
they are so deserving of.
GRRACE is comprised completely of volunteers; there are no paid members of
this group. Financially, we survive on the income generated from adoption
fees as well as donations and a couple fund-raisers during the year. In
comparison to other Golden rescue groups throughout the country we are a
relatively small group with low operating expenses since all GRRACE dogs are
cared for in our own homes.
Every golden that comes into our program is taken to a veterinarian. They
receive an exam, are brought current on necessary vaccines, tested for
intestinal parasites and heartworms, all medical issues are addressed, and
of course every dog is spayed or neutered.
2007 was a tough year financially for GRRACE. The average veterinary cost
PER dog was in excess of $500.00. Our total veterinary bills were three
times what we collected in adoption fees. With the economy what it is right
now our donations are down considerably. Those donations are what bridge the
gap between vet expenses and our adoption fees.
Our biggest expenses are for goldens from shelters because often times these
poor souls are not been well cared for and bring with them many health
concerns. Shelter dogs, dogs kept tied or chained outside or dogs in some
other way in danger have always been and will always be our first priority.
Most of the goldens we bring in are from shelters or homes where they aren't
well cared for.
Unfortunately we are now in a position of needing to rebuild our finances so
we can continue to pay for the veterinary care of the dogs we bring in. We
have recently raised our adoption fee a bit which puts us in line with other
Golden rescues throughout the country.
To sum this all up, we need two things. Cash donations (please remember your
donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE!) and a couple of enthusiastic Golden lovers
who would like to take on a fund-raising idea and make it happen!
Please feel free to contact
Marcie.
Donations can be sent to our mailing address: GRRACE, P.O. Box 513,
Plainfield, IN 46168. We can also accept Paypal, though not preferred
due to the fees we are charged to withdrawal funds as well as withdrawal
limits they have in place
Thank you so much your support over the years and for your continued support in
the future.
Sincerely,
GRRACE
