Molly - August 2006

When we rescued Molly in Evansville for GRRACE a day before she was to be put down, she was flea-bitten, depressed, and greatly underweight from having been a stray for months.  Something we will never forget is when we entered her cage where she was being kept, she actually cried.  A few weeks later I enrolled her in an obedience class against the advice of the owner.  In two weeks he couldn't believe the change in her.  She had gone from a slow walk with hanging head to a prancing, alert, sparkly little girl!  Molly was the last of four golden retrievers we have owned and our first rescue dog.  It's difficult to describe the relationship my husband and I had with her.  She was positively psychic at times and always loving and comforting. Golden owners will understand what I'm trying to say!  We still miss her greatly and lost her to cancer last August.  However, she was such an amazing experience, we will again look for a golden that needs love and a happy life.  We may never find another Molly, but we will try and we will never forget her.
