Timmy - January 2007

Timmy was a rescue dog  we adopted him from GRRACE .  He started as our first "foster dog" and came to us March 9, 1999.  He was found roaming the streets alone on Christmas 1998 with awful hips, he was rescued and his hips were fixed (although they were never perfect - there was always a little discomfort).  After a month or so had passed, we decided to adopt him ourselves.  Despite the high maintenance (chronic ear infections, allergies, tender hips) and his strange appetite for anything white (styrofoam, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, books, magazines, etc.) we couldn't have asked for a kinder or gentler dog.  Our son Andy could sit on him, pull his tail, or trip and fall into him, and he never even whimpered.  There was no jealousy when Andy came home from the hospital.  In fact, Timmy took on the role of protector and guardian.  We believe Andy's first word may have been his version of "doggie" although it sounded more like doh-ga.   Timmy lived for long naps, walks on a breezy cool night, and car rides, even though it made him car sick occasionally.  Timmy loved everyone (even the vet).  Unfortunately Timmy lost his battle with colon cancer January 2007.

Timmy will certainly be missed by everyone, but his dog-sister Hannah (adopted October 31, 1999 from GRRACE) will miss him more than anyone.  Hannah  rarely tolerated any other dogs but was always a perfect match for Timmy from the first moment they were brought together.
