Amy

Our Dear Amy

If you knew Amy, you knew she did all her talking with her tail.  She vigorously wagged it whenever she saw or heard people, even in the middle of the night when people got up to go to the bathroom.  Her wags were so strong that, when lying on her side, the thumps of her tail on the floor were loud enough to be heard by a neighbor.

Amy was a happy girl, and her smile complemented what her tail couldn’t fully express.  She also would look you right in the eye as if she wanted to start a conversation.  Other dogs were the only beings who would get a bark from her.

Lying on her back was a favorite pastime.  Amy would do this on our bedroom floor in the morning and would roll on her back with special exuberance when she was outdoors.

Petting was a big thing, too.  She knew how to get her head under your hands and was especially good at poking her nose between your hand and the laces when you were tying shoes.

She was part of our family for four years after being found wandering on a road in Morgan County.  It appeared she had given birth to puppies recently.  We wondered what those puppies looked like; whether they were light colored like Amy, who we often called Polar Bear.

Amy had to give her approval before our other rescue golden, Sofie, could become a member of the family.  They got along wonderfully, and Sofie misses her pal.

A time of loss is difficult, but our good memories of those wonderful times with Amy will help us through this time, along with Sofie’s special care.
