Jake came to live in our very busy household early summer of 2001. He joined the ranks of a big family, bringing his big heart of love with him. Jake, being the "older gentleman" of 10 years old, never acted as such. He had a spring in his step, a sparkle in his eyes, and a shoe or toy in his mouth. He was never lonely for some loving, for he had 12 human brothers and sisters to play with, another golden, Dinger (3 1/2 years old) to "chew the fat with", and a 10 year old cat, Silas, to ignore. Mom said Jake was to be a "family pet"' he didn't belong to one person. How quick she was to find out
that Jake had other ideas. He became her shadow. Wherever Mom was, so was Jake. Even the bathroom door wasn't strong enough to keep him out! Jake became sick suddenly. After blood test and x-rays, it was determined he had cancer. Finally, on September 19, 2002, through many tears it was decided that it was time to let Jake go and ease his pain. Though at the end he no longer had the spring in his step, he kept the sparkle in his eyes, a shoe or toy by his bed, and was a faithful and loyal friend to his family.
We miss you Jake!
