Having two Goldens was not enough, so on a snowy Saturday at the end of
January, I drove from Fort Wayne, to Valparaiso to pick up Molly. She was seven
years old and was a GRRACE turn in because her family could no longer keep her.
She was thin and petite, just like Sammy, who we had lost 18 months before. She
fit right in with Baxter and Didi and quickly learned where the treats were and
when it was dinner time. About a month after she came to live with us, she
developed a lump over one eye. Our vet tried several antibiotics hoping it was a
sinus infection. When surgery was done, they found a fast-growing tumor in her
sinus cavity. Unfortunately, there was no way to get it all. Throughout all the
pain, Molly maintained her sweet disposition and continued to crawl up on the
couch by my side as I was recuperating from foot surgery. We were with her at
the end and talked to her as she was crossing over the Rainbow Bridge. Our vet
said that it must have been in The Plan for us to be her forever home during
Molly's last four months so we could do everything possible to make her last
days good ones. We only had her for four months, but we will always love and
remember our Miss Molly.
