Nugget - April 2001

For most of her life, Nugget lived in a puppy mill, having litters of puppies whenever she could. After she became unproductive she was sold to a nice lady who took her into her home as a loved family member. Recently her owner passed away and other family members were unable to take her due to their current dog who was aggressive towards Nugget. For the past several months, Nugget lived alone in the house and family members would come by several times a day to let her out and feed her, a lonely existence.  It was then learned that Nugget has lung cancer and she only has a short time left. While she is not showing signs of her illness at this time, there is little hope that she will be around for much longer. GRRACE was contacted and notified of her situation. We decided that we had to do something for her so that her last days would know love and kindness. Georgia, one of GRRACE's board members, decided that she would take her into her home on Jan. 6, 2001. As you can see, Nugget is finally experiencing the type of life she deserves.

While the quantity of time she has left may not be great, she will know only love and kindness in her final days. A special thanks to Georgia and her family for this courageous act of love and humanity.

*Nugget passed away on April 23, 2001 in Georgia's arms.*
