This is Quincy. He was a week short of his tenth birthday when we adopted him from GRRACE. He is shown eating his sixteenth birthday cake this last Sept seventh. He had ACL surgery when he was twelve, but has been in good health. He is my best buddy in the world. Neither one of us does much running anymore, but can spend a lot of time in front of the fire snoozing.

woodyout.jpg (5813 bytes)

"Woody" is a heart-stealer that captivates everyone who meets him. He is filled with a joy and exuberance that only an 8 month old pup can contain. Although life has dealt him a bad hand in the form of imperfect hips, Woody is the most loving, confident, even-tempered pup around, while also being quite the athlete! Woody has recently gone to his new home. His new mom met his foster mom at the orthopedic vet where his hips were being re-evaluated. He's going to need surgery on one of his hips but his new mom doesn't care and took him home on the spot to get him used to his new home before going through surgery.

"Ginger" came to us in bad shape, underweight and with a broken right rear leg. She had been hit by her long term "babysitter" because she wasn't used to being tied outside and was barking. The bone was broken completely in two and had been that way for at least three weeks by the time we got her. Ginger has had major surgery on the leg and is doing Great now. She's almost completely recovered and is walking without a limp. She gets to wagging so hard when you look at her she sometimes knocks herself over. She's in her new home now and will be having a great Christmas in 1998 with her new Golden brothers and sister.

Paddy didn't get a lot of attention in her former life, that has recently changed and Paddy is now the "center" of attention.

"Shadow" aka Dutch was a victim of a broken family. Dad left, daughter didn't have time and mom wasn't a dog person. Shadow was unwanted. At a recent impromptu "Rescue Fair" Shadow picked his new Mom & Dad and it was love at first sight. Shadow has his new name, his new family and home, and his new life. His only weakness? He's a bed hog, but nobody seems to mind. In a few short days he's learned about toys, playing and......love.

ginger.jpg (15660 bytes)

"Ginger" came to us nearly on her death bed. We were called by the Humane Society concerning an owner turn in. She weighed in at 40 lbs, bare spots on her back, dry flaky skin. Vet said possible cancer. Blood tests didn't support cancer diagnosis. Put her on special food and pancreatic enzymes and she began to improve. Talking to her potential mom about possible exploratory surgery, her only question was "is Sunday too soon to pick her up?" No surgery was done and now Ginger is about 62 pounds and looks GREAT! Her new mom is one of the special guardian angels we occasionally run into.

hayley03.jpg (13175 bytes)

"Hayley" was a loved family member, even after the baby came. She was loved, but no one had time for her anymore. She was kept outside, and was left to entertain herself. It soon became apparent that she was unhappy. Now Hayley has 2 new sisters and a new brother and a new Mom & Dad to keep her busy. She's happy and loved and hardly ever left alone anymore. It didn't take long for her to rediscover the joys of snuggling, with so many new family members around.

foster01.jpg (10986 bytes)

"Foster" - A call from the Humane Society where Foster was to be put down unless we could take him. Six year old Heartworm positive male. One of the sweetest Goldens I've ever come across. Took a vet tech and us about six hours just to get the huge mats cut out. Through the grooming and all the medical treatment, he didn't care what you were doing to him as long as you were giving him attention. Foster is now in a great home with his own pool and lots of tennis balls and woobies.

ala2.gif (50982 bytes)

"Abby & Levi" at their foster home just before going to their new permanent home. Abby 7 and Levi 6 spent most of their lives together, the last couple of years outside after a divorce. Levi was heartworm positive and Abby was very overweight. They went into a great foster home where they were brought back to health and adopted together to a great family in the Chicago area. We look forward to seeing these two again at next years Rescue Parade.
