Success Stories for 1999

GRRACE is in the process of updating the success stories pages. If there are any omissions or corrections please let the webmaster know and corrections will be made. Thank you for your patience.

This is Paddy. We adopted her from GRRACE when she was two. Our previous golden, Roxie had passed away from cancer at fourteen. Paddy has the sweetest personality and is one of the worlds premier moochers. Her and Quincy, our other golden make the best family in the world. In fact, goldens are better than kids because you never have to bail them out of jail or co-sign for them. You don't pay for college they will never use or worry about them bringing all their friends over to get in your hot tub at midnight.

freeway.jpg (35420 bytes)

"Freeway" was found laying on the shoulder of I-65 in Indianapolis. At first thought he'd been hit and was dead along the side of the road, his savior went back to find him just laying there scared to death. She got him in her car and contacted us. Freeway is now in his new home as a loved family member. Here he is with his new brother Tony. I think the picture says it all...........

hannah.jpg (20320 bytes)

"Hannah" has her new family including a 4 legger for a brother (see Tiny Tim above). Hannah and Timmy are getting along well with each other. Timmy has even learned how to set up Hannah as the fall guy for his mischief. Seems that Hannah was getting blamed for eating some wall paper until Tim got caught in the act. No hard feelings, but Tim better watch out, as Hannah is a fast learner.........

"Hogan" is one of our senior Goldens who needed some surgery to remove an ugly tumor from his chest. The tumor was benign and Hogan is well on the road to recovery. This is a large Golden who is as gentle as he is big. He gets along well with his new Golden brothers and sisters, and wins the heart of everyone he meets. We don't know what kind of life Hogan had before going to his new "forever" home, but we do know he now has a life of luxury from this time on.

Teddy_Xmas.jpg (26189 bytes)

"Teddy" is another big stray who showed up at GRRACE. He went into his foster home and immediately became a favorite of his two new Golden sisters and all the two leggers in the household. Teddy's favorite thing is just being near you and being touched. Teddy is another Golden who we can't understand how someone let him get away. This is a wonderful big Golden who deserves the good life he's going to experience for many years to come.

"Quincy" is our grand old gentleman. Quincy is around 10 years old and was in a good home until his dad had some serious medical problems. Quincy is in wonderful shape and acts much younger than his age. He is now in his new home with a new sister "Paddy" (see above). The two must have been made for each other as they hit it off from the start.  GRRACE has been very lucky in finding wonderful homes for several of our Goldens who have reached their "golden" years. Don't be afraid to take one of our senior citizens into your home.

lacey.jpg (26104 bytes)

"Lacey" is a very sweet young female that was dumped along the side of the road. A family walking their dog saw a car pull into a vacant lot and toss this sweetheart out and speed off. They contacted GRRACE and we were able to find her a great home in a short period of time. While we don't think Lacey has any Golden Retriever in her, she certainly does have the Golden spirit and personality.

jackie.jpg (35532 bytes)

"Jackie" our little Golden mix was abandoned at a shelter. We brought her into the program and it was obvious that she had had a rough life. All that has changed since she got with her new dad, Robert. Jackie is now learning how to live the good life, and I suspect that she's going to experience a Christmas like never before.

toby.jpg (64583 bytes)

"Toby" is a two year old that came to us abused and neglected. He had a horrible ear infection that we thought was going to require surgery. He was afraid to go into a house or a car but things are different now. Toby's new mom, Brooke and a Golden sister have him living the life of luxury. He has blossomed into a sweet, loving companion and now has all the attention he wants and enjoys cuddling in bed with his new family.

tinytim.JPG (6186 bytes)

"Tiny Tim" aka Tim had some pretty bad hips, but after surgery he's now able to get around quite well. He'll never be out on the race track, be he seems to get around just great in his new home.  Timmy's new home is his "former" foster home. It didn't take him too long to convince them that he was just too sweet to let go. His new mom and dad think the world of him and even have him up on the web. You can see Tim live most weekdays at www.golden-retriever.net

tug.jpg (14120 bytes)

"Tug" was a 4 month old Golden pup that was going to be put down at a shelter because they thought he was going to be too big, and "most families don't want a large dog". Tug won the hearts of a lot of families that would have made a great home for Tug. The decision was a tough one, but Tug will have many happy years with a family where he will have lots of company, both human and critter. Tug will have a wonderful opportunity to be an "Ambassador" for both the Golden breed and his new family.

stella.jpg (16076 bytes)

"Stella"  is a six year old female who is a real love. She is now in her new home where she is the center of attention and where she gets special hugs during those evil thunderstorms. Not a lot is known about her past. We only know that she has been bounced around the last few months, mainly due to her fear of storms. She's in the right place now where she feels safe and secure, all the time.

buffy2.jpg (12133 bytes)

"Buffy" came to us from an older couple who could no longer care for her. She recently went to a new home where she is the center of attention. With her new family's schedule, Buffy will hardly ever have to be alone. This little gal has had some ups and downs, but it appears that her life has taken a definite turn for the better......

reba.jpg (7737 bytes)

"Reba" has had several homes in her short life. Her owners just couldn't keep her for one reason or another. That has since changed. Reba is now in a loving home with a new Mom and Dad and a Golden brother all of whom will be giving her all the love and attention she deserves. This is one lucky Golden, and a very lucky family.

tucker.jpg (12100 bytes)

"Tucker" (aka Jules) was a stray who was picked up with "Cleo" (See Below). Jules is in his new home and is described as wonderful. Jules, while not with Cleo on a permanent basis is very happy in his new home and he will see Cleo regularly for play dates. Jules is keeping pretty busy with a whole bunch of both 2 legged and 4 legged brothers and sisters.  He has adjusted well to his new home and is loved by everyone. We don't know what his former life was like, but we know that his new life is one that will keep him young and happy for a very long time.

cleo-2.jpg (23572 bytes)

"Cleo" was picked up as a stray with "Jules" and is estimated to be between 3 and 5 years old. Cleo is also a sweetheart who gets along great with other dogs, cats and kids. Like Jules, Cleo will become a permanent member of her former foster family. She adjusted so well to her foster home that it was obvious that we had a wonderful match. Cleo's new family has lots of love and attention to pass around and she's become quite used to it. Cleo has adjusted quite well to her new environment and is now a family "member".

shelby.jpg (25672 bytes)

"Ribbon" aka Shelby, our little stray, has a new Mom and Golden sister. We don't know anything about her past, but her future looks great. She's going to get all the attention she can handle. A large wooded, fenced in yard is just what this little gal needs. I see plenty of woobies, wrestling matches and snuggles for a very sweet and deserving Golden.

goldie.JPG (22772 bytes)

"Goldie" won them over in no time at all. After leaving her first home, she was a frightened little girl, but as her confidence grew, so did the certainty that she was home for good. Goldie now has a new family to call her own. There's lots of new toys and more attention than she ever dreamed possible. What a way to start off a new year.....

Angel.jpg (9033 bytes)

"Angel"  a most befitting name for this lady. Angel was found wandering the streets, heartworm positive and alone. Brought back to health and now in loving arms in her new home, with a new family and a new lease on life. One of GRRACE's senior citizens with a solid future for many years to come.

molly.jpg (12116 bytes)

"Molly" a small, 2 year old (approx), spayed female. Molly was a stray that a family had been feeding and taking care of until she began to chase cars. Fearing for her safety, this family contact GRRACE where Molly went into foster care. This very sweet Golden didn't take long to win over her new family. Molly now has a new home where she has a stay at home mom and 24 hour attention from her new family. Everyone seems excited about the new arrangements -- especially Molly.

Annie was found as a stray. She had an ear infection, hadn't been spayed, and had no manners. Since being adopted in December of 1999 she has completed two obedience classes and an agility class. She enjoys spending time at doggie day care and regular trips to the lake.
