Success Stories for 2007

Angel

I want to thank all the great people at Grrace especially my foster parents, John and Linda, for acting quick and taking great care of me.  I had gotten away from my "third" home, (I'm only 7 years old) and wound up at the shelter in Kokomo.  Thank goodness they called Grrace.  I was "retrieved" almost immediately!  Now I live in my forever home with my brother, Maxx, shown here in one photo with me and also my kitty brothers, Harry & Potter.  My parents love, love, love me and we are all very happy!  Sometimes I still like to chase after the kitty boys but all is well, we really love each other...although I must admit they are almost as much fun to chase as the squirrels who live in our back yard!  My parents say that the only thing that could possibly be better than one golden is two or three or four!

Thanks again,
Angel Doone and her loving family,

Andy

Having to put down our fourth golden in 40 years was, as always for golden owners, extremely difficult.  We waited over a year before even considering rescuing another golden.  However, last October when we met Andy, I took him for a brief walk and suddenly fell in love with a lean, athletic, well-behaved one year old.  This little guy (who is now big!) absolutely has won our hearts.  He is so loving, tries so hard to do the right thing, and appreciates every moment we spend with him.  It can be walking, throwing the ball, taking trails, watching TV together, or eating popcorn! Every day despite the weather, for 25 to 30 throws of the ball, Andy gets exercised.  Watching for deer at night is also a favorite pastime.  After delivering a Christmas card to a neighboring female golden, Andy received a Valentine in February. Needless to say, he has most definitely found his “forever home” and we have found a “forever golden.”  Special thanks to Andy’s foster mom, Janice. Thank you, GRRACE, for our last golden, Molly, and our present one, Andy.

Rita and Dave

Zoe Rose

This is Zoe Rose who came to us following a loss of our   10  yr   old  Mookie, She is perfect . She has adjusted to our home and is very playful, excited, and very loved by myself and everyone who has met her. The cat fell asleep on top of her and  I  hoping   to get  a  picture. Thank you GRRACE for taking care of Zoe until she could find her forever home with us. We will love her forever and always. Kay  and Family

Bogey & Riley

We recently have adopted two wonderful Goldens from the " the other availabe goldens page".  In July of 2007, after haveing to put our Chocolate lab down, we adopted Bogey, a two year old male.  A month later we decided that he needed a brother to play with.  The first picture I saw on the website was of Riley, a soon to be two year old male.  There was no doubt that he was the one.  We adopted both boys from wonderful families that could just not take care of them anymore.  They are both wonderful dogs whose days now consist of days filled with boating, running around the yard and sleeping on the bed.  I just wanted to thank GRRACE for making it possible for us to have two wonderful additions to our family.

Hobie

We were blessed with 3 year old “Hobie” (we kept his given name) in November 2006.  He was a BIG (108 lbs!) lovable lug who stole our hearts immediately!  He has the softest head in the entire universe- anyone who sees him can’t help patting his head!  Hobie has become best friends with our other mutt “Bullet” a black lab and something mix- they play together all the time.  Hobie clearly must have been fed people food (and lots of it) in his former life.  He is a permanent fixture at food preparation time and at meals- he is so tall that he can slide his head right onto the table with out raising up at all!  This habit was quickly “unlearned”…  Hobie has been on a good diet of proper dog food and plenty of exercise since he found us, and has lost 28 lbs- he is a sleek 80 lbs now (May ’07)!   He can run up and down stairs and chase his brother around the house without huffing and puffing.  Hobie also likes to be in touch (literally!) with his human brother and sister, and his parents- if he isn’t being petted he is working on achieving that state however possible.  A friend described Hobie as a “special needs dog”- he has this look that says “if you pet me and love me I will be yours forever”.  I think he might make a great therapy dog- he’s so gentle and has never met a stranger (plus he has that incredibly soft head!), that may be in our future- we’ll see.  For now our family is completely and utterly entranced with this beautiful and slender golden who has definitely arrived at his forever home- thanks GRRACE!!

Bongo & Wrangler

We adopted two goldens off of the other goldens available page.  We adopted Bongo, an 11y/o that a vet saved from owners that wanted it put down, then we got Wrangler, the 5 y/o with a seizure disorder.  We love these two dogs SOOOO much!  We also have an 8 y/o and 3 y/o golden that we've had since they were puppies.  Included is  a picture of all four of them.  They are all such good dogs.  Truly our family is now complete with these furry companions.

Thanks for having this website and this program

Sincerely,

Comet

This is Comet with his friend the soccer ball.  We adopted Comet in October of 2007 and he has been a real delight.  Our old golden Riley is 11 and they get along great.  Thanks to all of the staff at GRRACE for rescuing this fantastic dog from the shelter and giving him a second chance!  We are so grateful to have him be a part of our lives....the Uhrich family.
