Success Stories for 2008 |
|
This is Niles (on the right), our gentle, giant Golden boy! Niles as adopted in the winter of 2008. He is the sweetest boy ever! Boll Family |
Dakota |
Dakota outlived his previous owner. He became part of the Johnson family on 9/4/2008, we were told he was 16. About a month later, we found out his date of birth was September 18, 1991. Every day with him is precious. He is a sweetie and only asks to be with you. He is deaf, but we have had no problem with communication, he follows the rest of the gang most of the time. If I need him to follow me, I pat on my chest with both hands and he finally will get up and follow. We go through this at bedtime when I want him to get one last potty before we head to bed. We have a couple of different size ottomans at bottom of bed so he can climb up, when he gets on bed, he gets as close as he can to who ever is in bed, gets his nuggies and then moves toward the bottom of bed. He is a joy and blessing |

Mandy |
We first saw Mandy on GRRACE's adoption page in January of 2008 and immediately knew that we had to see her. We drove 3 1/2 hours to visit her at her foster home and when we came inside and sat on the floor, she trotted right over and plopped herself right into my husband's lap. That was the moment we knew she was for us.Mandy has been the best dog we could ever have hoped for. She is around ten years old and knows what she wants and when she wants it -SHE tells US when it's time to go for her walk; she also communicates with her 'whoo-whoos' when it's time to eat (see photo) . Mandy continues to surprise and delight us with her antics. She's humorous, confident and above all else loves to hang out with our golden boy, Brulee. We receive such satisfaction when we see her sprawled out on her bed all comfy and content after a fun outing. We're so very lucky to have her. |

Murphy |
In June of this year, I blessed with adopting a wonderful Golden from the "other available golden's" page. When I saw him, I knew he was the one. Murphy (formerly Sundance) was 14 months old at the time and came from a wonderful family that had to sadly depart from him due to a move. Murphy came one month after the loss of my 7 year old Golden boy, Leo, who died suddenly from Leukemia. Bazzle, my other 8 year old Golden, was so depressed and sad and that when I found Murphy, he was the perfect fit from the start. He is very active which keeps Bazzle on her toes and brings out the "young" golden in her. He was quite skittish from the beginning but now he fears nothing. He is very active, loves his tennis balls and loves going on daily runs. He believes that he is quite helpful to me with house duties ;) Chasing his tennis balls in an endless daily adventure. He loves any type of attention and his puppy behavior is always improving. He is truly a member of the family and he has found his forever home to live out his "golden life." Thank you again to his previous home for giving Bazzle and I the blessing of Murphy. |

Marley |
In January it was our privilege to be entrusted with Marley (formerly Chet) whom we adopted shortly after the death of our beloved senior Golden, Blaze, at 13-1/2. We were anxious to find a companion for our younger Golden, Torch, now age 10. Despite Marley's hearing impairment, which we were aware of prior to inquiring about him, the "fit" was perfect from the start. We couldn't possibly have hoped for a sweeter addition to the family. Marley's house manners are impeccable and despite his deafness, he shows no hint of anxiety or shyness, and he and Torch have established a happy bond. Now that Marley is truly settled in, we plan additional training for him using hand signals and substituting a laser pointer for a clicker. He loves to romp in his back yard, but relishes a good snuggle even more. And like most Goldens, he's always ready to share a treat! Here's a picture where he proudly shows off the little black "Place Treats Here!" spot on his tongue. Thank you, GRRACE, for bringing this dear fellow into our lives. |
