Frankie

Honorary Golden

Hi, my name is Frankie. I’m a 3 year old Foxhound mix.  I’m neutered, completely housetrained, healthy and up to date on all my vet care.   Just like my brother Parker, my mom rescued me from a shelter and planned on placing me in a good adoptive home about a year ago. Once she got to know me she decided she couldn’t give me up! I really loved my mom so it was really hard for me when she got sick. We thought she was all better but she got really sick again all of a sudden and had to go to the rainbow bridge. That’s why my brother Parker and I have to find new homes. Mom said I was a little rough around the edges at first but she worked with me a lot and now everyone says I’m very well behaved and an all-around wonderful boy!  I love all kinds of people and dogs, but we think it would be best if my new family didn’t have any young kids ‘cause even though I like kids, I’d probably knock them down when I play. We also want to make sure nobody leaves a door open accidentally, because you know us hound dogs – if we smell something good we’ll just follow the scent until we find it!  This is also the reason why I’ll need a fenced in yard at my new home or someone that will only take me out on leash walks for exercise or to the dog park. I really love going to the dog park and playing with other dogs,  I’m having a great time at the doggie daycare with my foster mom too.  It would be great if my new family had another dog I could play with.   Even though I’m having a nice time right now with all my new friends I still can’t wait to find my forever family because I have lots of fun, love, cuddles and companionship to share with a new family.     Since I'm not a golden retriever my adoption will be different so please ask Carol for details and also if you would like to meet me!!!  Contact Carol at:  slcldowden@aol.com

Parker

Honorary Golden

Hi, my name is Parker and  I’m a 4 year old Pointer mix. I’m neutered, completely housetrained, healthy and up to date on all of my vet care.  My Mom Linda rescued me when I was younger from some boys who were beating me up with a metal pipe. She took me to the vet,  got me all fixed up and took really good care of me. She was planning to help me find a new home but  she just couldn't let me go and kept me herself. I had a wonderful life with her and several other dogs of all shapes and sizes. We went to a dog park almost every day,  we cuddled a lot, and she we did a great job teaching me everything I need to know to be the perfect companion.  I’m EXTREMELY well-behaved if I do say so myself, but it would probably still be a good idea for my new home to have a fenced in yard.  It would also be great if my new family has another dog for me to play with but it isn't a requirement.    My life was turning out pretty great after a rough start, but then a little while ago my mom got really sick and had to go to the rainbow bridge. I’m really sad and a little bit confused, but I’m still being a really good boy and having lots of fun with my foster mom at her doggie daycare facility.  Despite my background I love everybody I meet so I’m already making lots of new friends, both dogs and humans. I miss my Mom a lot but I can’t wait to find a new family to call my own.   Since I'm not a golden retriever my adoption will be different so please ask Carol for details and also if you would like to meet me!!!  Contact Carol at:  slcldowden@aol.com

Jake 2

Everybody please meet Jake #2! He is one of the sweetest, most adorable Golden boys I've ever met, which is pretty amazing given the traumatic life he's had so far. When Jake first came to me, he would hit the floor and wince anytime we raised our voices, or walked towards him at all. He wasn't housetrained at first, but Jake is a very fast learner, and he's now completely housetrained, and doing so much better that he really seems like a different dog! :-)  I think part of this transformation is that Jake has been living with me at my doggie daycare facility. Having so many other dogs around has really seemed to boost Jake's confidence, and he finally started playing with toys and enjoying himself!  He even enjoys going up the stairs and then sliding down the kiddie-slide!  (Well, it's hard to tell if he really likes it, or if he just wants to please me, but either way it's absolutely adorable!)  I've given Jake a birthday that makes him 5 years old, but that was only after having several vets meet him so we could all try to figure out his age (which we decided was 4 - 6).  Jake has some issues being left all alone, and we've even seen some of his escape artist tendencies when he chewed his way out of metal crates, and scaled (and even jumped over!) chain link fences. After a bit of experimentation, I've determined that Jake is perfectly content to be left loose in the house as long as he has my other dogs to keep him company when I leave. As long as he has companions, he's a model canine, and doesn't destroy anything or have accidents.  So, because of some of Jake's rather unique qualities, he will need to go to a forever home where he is NOT an only dog. He gets along well with most other dogs, but always does well with females, so a home with other female dog(s) would probably be best, but that will depend on the individual dogs (since he gets along fine with my males, for example). Jake still gets scared when he hears unexpected noises, or sees a human running, etc. so it would probably be best if there were no little kids in his new home.  Finally, because of his ability to scale and jump chain link fencing, Jake will only be placed into a new home with a 6 foot privacy fenced yard.  It may seem like Jake might be difficult to have as part of your family, but really, as long as you realize he needs a little extra TLC, he will be the most loving dog you could ever hope to meet!  He truly wants nothing more than to please you and be shown affection in return!    If you have an approved adoption application on file, and if you meet the above requirements, then please contact Kera for more information about this wonderful boy!

Kriquette

ADOPTED!!

Hi everyone, my name is Kriquette!  I am a beautiful 4-year-old girl and weigh around 60 lbs.  I have dark red hair that is a little curly; my foster mom says it looks like I have bed head!  I was surrendered to GRRACE after my owners said they didn’t want two dogs anymore.    I am always loose in the house and don’t have accidents or disturb anything.  I have always lived with another dog and cat, so I pretty much get along with everyone.  Mom thinks I would be better with an older dog or one my age because I get annoyed at the 5 month old neighbor puppy when she tries to play with me but I love to play with my 5-year-old foster brother.  Now all I can say is WOW!  I never knew life could be so much fun!  I love to go in the car (I will get in any open door).  My favorite part of the day is walks!  My foster mom says once we get going and my excitement subsides, I actually am wonderful on the leash!  I love to meet new dogs and people, especially kids, and soak up all the attention I can.  I am a very smart girl and am learning so fast.  I know to sit, down, and shake.  The other commands and tricks are coming.  Mom and dad even take me to grandma’s farm and to the lake.  I love to follow the critter trails and see what I can find!   I want a family that is going to love me forever and give me the attention and TLC that I deserve.   You might need to have some patience as I am still learning some obedience, but my foster mom says I am a wonderful girl.   I am up to date on all my shots and have a micro chip.  I love to get attention and will do anything I can to please you.  I am being fostered in Fort Wayne.  If you have room in you heart and home for a smart, sweet, beautiful red-headed girl, I would love to meet you!  Now, I have to get back to my foster dad; he was loving me up!  If you have an approved application on file and want to know more about me, please contact Mary Kay.

Jake

 ADOPTED!!

Hi, my name is Jake and my foster mom says I am WONDERFUL and oh so loveable!!! I am 3 years old, neutered, and a big boy at about 85lbs.  I run with my foster mom every day and I am a great running partner! I have a four-legged foster dog brother and we love to play! I am a young, energetic guy so I will require a home with a fenced yard. I
love everyone I meet, especially kids and everyone else, but GRRACE
feels it would be best if I was with kids that are past baby and toddler
age. I wouldn't want to knock down any little ones as a result of my
exuberance for life! Even though I have enough energy to keep up with
the best of em, I am a very good boy. I can be loose in the house
without a crate and I don't mess with anything I'm not supposed to, and
I am housebroken. I am a fast learner and have picked up some commands. My foster mom also learned that I LOVE to swim!!! I love to ride in the car and I am a top notch passenger! I am a great companion and will follow you around the house and do my best not to let you out of my sight. I am just so grateful to be living the good life now! I would
love to find someone who wants me to be their forever companion; an
active family that can include me in their activities; especially
someone who needs a faithful running pal and who would take me swimming!  Did I mention how wonderful I am? Please email Marcie if you have an approved application on file and are interested in making me your forever companion.

Bonnie

Adopted!!

Hi everybody! My name is Bonnie - my foster mom named me that because it means pretty and she says I'm a pretty girl, and pretty nice, and pretty cute, and pretty smart, so it just fits me! I am 4 months old and looking for my forever home. I got out of my owners' yard once too often and they didn't want me back, so the nice people from GRRACE are helping me look for a better place. I am playing nicely with my foster brothers and sisters, and haven't been interested in the cats. I am learning to play fetch, and already know how to sit on command. I am up to date on my shots, and have been spayed, and have a microchip, so I'm all ready for my people. I know not to potty in my crate, and am learning to do it outside like a good girl. Mom says I need to go to obedience school because all puppies need to know good manners. I looove to be cuddled and go for car rides and be with people - Mom thinks I got loose because I was lonely and bored. If you have an approved application on file and want to know more about me, please contact Janice. I am being fostered in Indianapolis.

Please check this page frequently! GRRACE knows of a number of Goldens that need to come into the program as soon as we have available foster homes.
